I bought this item as a gift for my nephew, but after finding a different gift, kept it. My 14 year old daughter & I took it out for fun to decorate a birthday cake. We both found it difficult to use. You can really only make dots/star dots. Almost impossible to make a nice line of frosting because there's no way to have a steady flow of icing (forget about trying to write letters). Then trying to take the empty tube out of the Squeezie was also a challenge. Takes some muscle and wiggling to yank it out. For us, it was much, much easier to decorate by squeezing the icing tube by hand. I guess I can see that it may help small children to squeeze the tube, and it is kind of cool looking, but I still think they will struggle.
