These are really fun for a Star Wars fan. It does take 1-2 tries to perfect your pancake-mold-using technique, but it's not too hard. My first one (the stormtrooper) looked like a stormtrooper who had just been in a fight with Han Solo!The reason these can be fairly difficult to use is simply that there are so many cutouts. You aren't going to be able to just pour the batter into the mold. If you buy these, I suggest VERY strongly that you get a pancake batter dispenser/pen so that you can deposit the batter in the mold with greater accuracy. I have no idea how you can use these successfully without a pancake pen or some kind of similar product...I mean, you could probably use a plastic ketchup bottle too (not as easy to use as a pancake pen because you can't load from the bottom of the pen, but it's better than nothing).Here are some tips for using these molds: (1) spray the mold with Pam (I do this for each new pancake); (2) put the mold on the pan or griddle for a bit to get it hot; (3) don't pour too much batter in...I'd say to fill it up maybe about 1/4 of the way to 1/2 of the way up the height of the mold (do NOT go above the crossbars of the mold (this makes sense if you buy these and can see what I'm referring to); (4) remove the mold before flipping, but leave it on until the 1st side of the pancake is done. The batter will expand as it cooks and if it expands to a greater height than the mold, it can be very tricky to get the pancake extricated from the mold. Also, when you flip Yoda, the ears are so huge that you should use two spatulas to prevent him from losing an ear. It's all a bit elaborate, but it does work.I am downgrading my review significantly because of the price on Amazon. These are being sold for MUCH LESS at William Sonoma (half the price on Amazon). Also, I wish there was a little wood knob on the handles of the molds...the handles get hot and you have to use an oven mit or something when removing the mold, which can be a little cumbersome. I have another pancake mold that has a little wooden knob on the handle, which comes in very handy. Certainly if this seller is going to charge DOUBLE, they could add a little wooden knob to them!

I ordered these for my husband who is a big Star Wars fan. I thought that it would be a fun breakfast for Saturday mornings. I was disappointed because the batter sticks to the molds, no matter how much Pam you use. The molds were also difficult to clean because of the caked on batter. I paid $40 for them and have only used them once because all they do is make a mess. The Storm Trooper one works okay, the Vader and Yoday ones didn't come out like pictured. :-(

What a fun way to start the day! My boys love Star Wars, and they love pancakes, so I couldn't wait to get these. We have other pancake molds that they love, but this are the favorites by far.
